Why create a Portfolio?
Portfolio is a web-based information management tool, which allows KCKCC
and non-KCKCC users (guests) the opportunity to access and share Portfolio
records and other documents. Portfolio can be thought of as an
electronic file cabinet in which you can store multiple types of information
by and about yourself, such as writing samples, photographs or design samples,
video clips, music clips, resumes, internship experiences or mentors. Similar
to an investment portfolio the more broad the information that is stored
in Portfolio, the greater the return to the user. Creating a
Portfolio encourages you to think critically about and document your thoughts
and experiences related to personal information, education, career, skills,
professional practices and recognition. Once this information
is entered into Portfolio, the Portfolio owner can choose to share either
part or all of his or her entire Portfolio with other individuals.

Your Portfolio is also linked to a default view of your user account
in such a way that some information, such as demographic information,
is automatically displayed in your Portfolio. This information is identified
as such, and is always as current as the information stored in the KCKCC system
database. You can enter other information, attach materials, such
as documents, photos, and other files, and/or link to external websites.

What is the key vocabulary necessary for using Portfolio?
Portfolio has three primary functions: Enter, Share, and View.
Enter
This is the section for entering information into your Portfolio. Information
may be self-reported in any one of the elements distributed throughout
the six categories or it may be automatically displayed in your Portfolio
from the default information used to create your account.
Share
Through the Share function, a user may create one or more Portfolio folders. Each
folder may contain one or more Portfolio elements, and Viewing privileges can now
be granted to one or more individuals. Viewing privileges
can now be granted to both KCKCC and non-KCKCC individuals.
View
It is possible to view Portfolio folders to which you have been granted
access through the View function. All
KCKCC Portfolio users have access to their own Default Profiles through
the View function as well.
Material Manager
The Material Manager is a function of Portfolio where users can manage
their materials: including uploaded files and links to web pages (URLs). It
is possible to upload, delete, attach, and detach these materials through
the Material Manager. Even though materials may be stored in
the Material Manager, they must be attached to an element in order to
be shared.
Guest Login
Non-KCKCC users may log into Portfolio if and only if KCKCC Portfolio users
have shared folder(s) with them. Once a folder has been shared
with a non-KCKCC user, an email notification message is sent to the guest,
providing them with directions for viewing the folder and a password
for entering the Portfolio website.
Customized Folder
A customized folder is a folder created by the Portfolio owner. It can
contain one or more elements, including those elements filled in by the
Administrative System.
What is data privacy?
