Faculty
Individual Professional Development Plan
(IPDP) Worksheet

Introduction

The purpose of the IPDP is to help faculty identify their professional development goals. It will also help them think about and identify the resources and activities they will need to achieve these goals. IPDPs will also help the academic deans develop a clear picture of the professional development needs of the faculty in their division. Filling IPDPs with Faculty and Staff Development will aid in planning campus-wide faculty development activities.

It might be helpful for you to consider the following question as you complete your IDP:

What do you want to do to improve your learning and/or teaching?

The IDP is organized into two parts: Assessment & Goals (I and II) and Activities (III)

Self Assessment and Goal Setting
  1. PROFESSIONAL PROFILE-ASSESSMENT OF SELF
    1. Strengths (skills, talents, knowledge)

    2. Interests within your discipline

    3. Areas for potential growth within your discipline

    4. Areas for potential growth within your teaching
  2. GOAL SETTING
    1. Short-term professional goals (within 1 to 4 semesters)

    2. Long-range professional goals (within 5 to 10 semesters)

Activities

  1. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
Professional development activities may include workshops, seminars, courses, videos, readings, sabbatical leaves (see the Master Faculty Contract), conferences, consortium activities, and leadership training. Many of these activities are available here at the College or are available elsewhere. Identify those activities you want to include in your plan and provide specifics regarding them. Examples of specifics would include: the title, date, location, cost, and description of a seminar, workshop, course, video, book, or conference. You should also make clear how these activities will help you meet one or more of your goals. Remember to include a method or means to verify the completion of the Goal/Activity. If there are other programs or services that could help you accomplish your goals please list them.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding these activities, contact the Office of Faculty and Staff Development.

You may use the space provided below to write about your desired professional development activities or attach a separate sheet of paper. Remember, many of these professional development activities suggested above are available here at the college. If there are other professional development activities you would like suggest, beyond those listed above, please do so.

Once your INDIVIDUAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN has been completed, please meet with your dean for review.
