Associate in General Studies in Liberal Arts & Science Degree
Associate in General Studies in Liberal Arts & Science Transfer Articulation
An Associate in General Studies Degree requires satisfactory completion of 60 credit hours and a C (2.00) cumulative grade-point average.
All students working towards an Associate in Arts, an Associate in Science, and an Associate in General Studies are required to complete Composition I and II, Public Speaking, and Strategies for Academic Excellence/Lifelong Learning. Students working toward an Associate in Applied Science may substitute Technical Writing as specified in the degree requirements. Proper prerequisites must be observed unless they are waived by the Provost.
Note: KCKCC students transferring to a Kansas Regents' institution to obtain a Bachelor in Arts Degree must satisfy the Board of Regents' Transfer and Articulation Agreement by including a minimum of 45 credit hours of general education courses in their 60 hours with distribution in the following fields:
Basic Skills courses, including:
- 6 hours of Composition
- 3 hours of Public Speaking or Speech Communication
- 3 hours of college level Mathematics; college algebra and/or statistics will be required of transfer students where University curriculum requires it.
12 hours of Humanities courses from at least three of the following disciplines:
- Art*
- History
- Literature
- Modern Language
- Music*
- Philosophy
- Theater*
Performance courses are excluded.
12 hours of Social and Behavioral Science courses from at least three of the following disciplines:
- Anthropology
- Economics
- Geography
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Sociology
9 hours of Natural and Physical Science courses from at least two disciplines (lecture with lab).
